Pancreatic cancer is related to alcohol consumption although many cases occur in non-drinkers. It often presents late typically with jaundice, abdominal pain or weight loss. The diagnosis is mainly by CT scanning. Treatment is surgical for those cases which are operable together with the placement of stents to relieve jaundice. Other cases will receive chemotherapy either as a prelude to surgery or alone if surgery is not feasible.
